Visit to Poland and Ukraine - help please

I wonder if you could offer us any advice and help?

We are planning a touring holiday to eastern Europe next August travelling
in our motorhome to Poland. We also thought it would be a good adventure to
visit Ukraine (albeit briefly!).

As part of our tour we thought that we would take the route Warsaw
(Hrebenne/Rava Ruska) - L'viv - (Mostiska/Przemysl) - Krakow. [would any
other smaller border crossings be preferable/quicker? We have heard that
there can be delays at the major border crossings]

We would welcome any help and advice that you have on crossing into/out of
Ukraine and driving in general. We understand that visas are currently not
required for British passport holders (thanks to the Eurovision Song
Contest!) but that International Driving Permits are needed. Our insurers
will issue a Green Card for our motorhome validated for Ukraine.

I can't find any information on camp sites near L'viv but have come across a
couple of motels that permit truck parking. Perhaps it would be better to
stay in a hotel and pay for guarded parking for the motorhome (it will only
be for a couple of nights).

Any help and advice much appreciated.

JA nie moze znalezc wszelki informacja u miejsca obozowe w poblizu L'viv
oprócz miec byc zrozumianym jasno pewien odcinek od motel ów zezwolenie
wózek parking. Moze byc ono bylby byc lepiej sytuowanym wobec pozostawac w
domu pewien hotel i wynagradzac pod katem uchronil parking pod katem ten
motorhome ( ono wola tylko byc pod katem pewien odcinek od noce ).

Wszelki wspólpracownik i zawiadomienie duzo dajacy sie ocenic.

Yes, there can be some delays (sometimes a few hours) but  rather when you
leave Ukraine - not when you come in.
I think that the first border crossing (Hrebenne) is a good choice but
preferably early in the morning.
Mostiska (Medyka) are also crossing for pedestrians but I usually waited
there much longer and I personally would not advise you to use it.

Take a hotel with a guarded parking - it is rather cheap but do not expect
too much from ukrainian hotels ;) Your motorhome wil be safe there when
you
leave for sightseeing. And BTW - the polish translation is absolutely
terrible - it cannot be understood even if one tries very hard ;)

Thank you very much for your advice - much appreciated.

Unfortunately we will be leaving Warsaw in the morning so will be crossing
the Hrebenne frontier post in the afternoon/early evening.  But, hopefully
as you say, there shouldn't be too many delays entering Ukraine.

Can you advise an alternative crossing point for our return to Krakow to
help minimise any delays?  I see from maps that there are other alternative
roads that cross the frontier but am unsure as to which would be best?

reasonably central with parking outside (with space big enough for a
motorhome) is the Hotel Dnister (looks like a former Intourist hotel to
me!) - but it's only for a couple of nights :-)

very successful are they?), I saw that most postings in this newsgroup were
in Polish so I thought I'd try my best to fit in with everyone else!

Im afraid that this is a kind of a lottery - you'll never know where you
will have to wait longer.
I don't know much about the other border crossing - I usually use
Hrebenne.

I've never stayed there but people say that it is one of the best Lviv
hotels. It is also in the centre of the city - IMHO excellent choice.
Unfortunately their prices are also "european" - I'd rather not call it
cheap ;).

Polish language is really hard for on-line translators but I know that

Well, I have been always crossing Ukrainian border in Medyka and in my
opinion it's much easier to get to Ukraine then to get to Poland again.
Last year Ukrainians kept me on their border for 5 hours before they
let me return to Poland. But my Ukrainian friend had been crossing
border there many times before we made it together last year, and he
said that it was the first time he had to wait so long.

We are a programming some, while sightseeing festivity regarding Eastern
Europe, coming august travelling in our domu na kóÂłkach regarding
Poland's. We too a thought it would have would be good risky enterprise
regarding visit's Ukraine (although briefly).
